"DATE: 12-31-07 Appearance: Inky purple.
Nose: Ripe red peppers, red currants and cherry, with light oak nuances.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Palate nicely follows the nose, but the flavours are not quite integrated yet (another year). Dusty tannins on a silky midpalate, with a clean dry finish
Conclusions: Baco from the Southwest could become Ontario's answer to Australian Shiraz, if only Ontario winemakers would overcome their feelings and add/flavour with the new additives and sugar in the way that the mass marketed wines at LCBO do. This is in a less modern style, relying on ripe grapes to produce an ageworthy wine that needs another year or two to come together. Capable of five years or more in a good cellar, will become very interesting in time. I have recently tasted a number of intense red hybrids from the southwest and feel that Ontario consumers are missing out when they ignore the small wineries, and do their shopping among the factory made products at LCBO." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"This dark, smooth and silky dry red is fit for a King. With its dark berry and sour cherry flavours this wine pairs well with game meats, grilled steak or a hearty stew."
