Glenda and John moved to Gambo in July 2000 after John retired from the
RCMP. They started vegetable farming on their 4 acres and Glenda started
making wines out of the abundance of berries growing on their property.
Once hooked on making fruit wines, it wasn't long till Glenda started
yearning to make the grape wines and started looking for a source of
concentrates, during this search she stumbled upon the littlefatwino
web site and it wasn't long before she realized that grapes could be
grown in Newfoundland. Heck they were growing them everywhere else! She
then retired from nursing so she could devote herself and John, (who
needs a nudge every now and then), to establishing their vineyard and to
convincing others that grapes can grow on the "Rock".

An additional acre of land was obtained by Glenda's sister and husband
(Ontario wino's) to give them a total of 5 acres to work with. In
spring of 2003 180 vines were planted. A small start but it should give
some indication of which grapes choose to thrive here. From that it will
be determined what to plant in subsequent years and more plantings will
be made as the land is cleared.

A winery is in the planning stages, and hopefully will be a reality by
2006, till then the kitchen will do.
