John has just bought a new house on Hardwood Hill near Pictou Harbour on the north shore of the Northumberland Strait. The South/South-East slope is well drained with an under layer of shale. The new vineyard is under construction and will be called Settlers Ridge Vineyard in honor of the early Scottish settlers to the area who landed near the base of Hardwood Hill in Pictou Harbour in the mid 1700's. Wild grapes were found growing on a small island near the harbour at that time. John's property has a spectacular view of the harbour and surrounding area and there is already a Chalet guest house on site for visitors.

John is a member of the Nova Scotia Grape Growers Assoc. and has just 5 years to go before retirement... "Outside of a dog...a bottle of wine is man's best friend...Inside a dog it's too dark to drink!
