Shane Curry is a full time Service Manager for Drake Canada which sells and
services Drake communication equipment. He has been growing grapes for four
years and now includes over 50 vines of sixteen varieties which include Prairie
Star, Sabrevois, Delisle, ES 6-16-30 as well as other hardy and less hardy
varieties. Most of the vines are on a north west facing slope within 100 feet
of the shore on the west side of Chemong lake. This location helps in delaying
the first frost of the fall and reduce the chances of late spring frost
damage.
Shane has just started up a small business called Kawartha
Vineyard Gardens which is aimed to sell items like grape cuttings and plants,
hot peppers and plants, tomato plants, giant pumpkin plants and seeds.
