"DATE: 09-15-08 Appearance: Straw.
Nose: Baked apple, buttery oak, light vanilla, light herbal/vegetal character (very pleasant, a positive thing).
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Big pear and light peach on the attack joining the nose, with the other flavours filling in the midpalate, where a pleasant round mouthfeel joins light dusty tannins. Finish is very long, clean and good.
Conclusions: Great bargain, Seyval is totally under-rated. This wine could easily pass for a lightly oaked chardonnay in a blind tasting, and is extremely food-friendly. Seyval is the grape that Ontario forgot - but shouldn't have - just because they generally didn't do this well with it (same story in Quebec). Very nicely done." lfw
