LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Medium Bodied Red Wine

2005 Calamus Red
Tech Information: 04-13-07 $ 13.00 (S: 0 A: 12.7) Winery

"DATE: 04-15-07 Appearance: Purple.
Nose: Sweet oak, raspberry, cassis, peppers, bits of dark chocolate.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with dusty tannins added midpalate and extending into the long clean finish. Some rich mouthfeel adds to the complexity of the wine.
Conclusions: Still very young cab blend is quite ageworthy (at least another five years) but is integrated enough for current enjoyment. This is really good value, especially if you want something to wash down a good rare steak this year. Should be together by 2009, becoming more of a complex stand-alone wine at that point. Great acidity makes this more of a food wine than a drink-alone wine though." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"A blend of 62% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauv that will keep you coming back for more."
