LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Medium Bodied Red Wine

2006 Calamus Red
Tech Information: 11-13-08 $ 15.20 (S: 0 A: 12.2) Winery

"DATE: 11-20-08 Appearance: Ruby.
Nose: Deep dark fruit (black cherry, raspberry, cassis) with spicy oak and bits of chocolate.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Palate follows the nose, with fresh fruit on the attack. Dusty tannins and some richness fit the midpalate, with a very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Wine is best now with rare red meats or tomato-based dishes, but in two years will start to develop into a stand-alone drinker. Should last ten years in a good cellar, and would stand well against good Bordeaux in a blind tasting. Good value in ageworthy wine, more Old World than new." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"A harmonious blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc and 14% Merlot. Aged 11 months in a combination of French Oak and Amercian Oak barrels, it is a robust, fruity and tannic offering that is perfect with red meats and savory dishes."
