"DATE: 08-13-08 Appearance: Deep ruby with light browning at the rim.
Nose: Plummy with spicy and sweet oak, cassis, light chocolate and a mineral note.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Ripe fruit on the attack as the palate follows the nose. Midpalate adds dusty tannins and some richness which extend through the very long dry clean finish.
Conclusions: Good value merlot from a good year is capable of eight years in a good cellar. Try it now with big red meat dishes (rarer not well done). In three years it will settle in and become a stand-alone drinker." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"A lovely wine that is very exemplary of its vintage year, this Merlot shows a great brick-red colour, and on the nose it has charming black cherry jam notes with light spice and cocoa undertones. Lush and smooth on the palate, with big, soft tannin, the jammy fruit notes shine through, as well as strong cocoa notes on the finish. Pair with bacon wrapped filet mignon, or any red meat with great grill marks."
