LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Dry Fruity White Wine
2007 Ortega
Tech Information: 05-13-08 $ 18.90 (S: dry A: ??) Winery

"DATE: 05-13-08 Appearance: Straw.
Nose: Floral nose with peach/apricot and spicy tropical fuit.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with spicy fruit on the midpalate and a long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: A very food-friendly wine (rarely out of place, something like riesling this way) which should go 3-4 years in a good cellar, putting on a little more weight and complexity while becoming more mellow. Quite nice now as a wine to serve on the patio on a summer day." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Ortega is a Riesling-like cross between Mueller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe. This variety is ideally suited to our southern Vancouver Island climate, producing a wine with crisp fruity flavours and exotic aromas of muscat and apricots. Great for just sipping, or paired with local seafood and a variety of vegetarian dishes."
