"DATE: 10-06-08 Appearance: Medium ruby with light mahogany at the rim.
Nose: Interesting (but I suspect not fully developed) nose shows beetroot, strawberry, sweet cherry, smoky oak and light leather.
Palate: Dry with very good acidity, midweight plus, bigger than expected from either the colour or the nose. Lovely silky notes developing on the midpalate, with light dusty tannins and a pleasant touch of mineral persisting into the very long very good clean dry finish. Some evidence of a nice sexy berry quality developing on the aftertaste.
Conclusions: Palate is bigger than either the colour or nose would suggest, which I think means that it is in an aromatic dumb phase which may last another year. This should go six to eight years, standing best with foods (yes, black tie dinners) of moderate flavour at this point, but turning into a stand-alone wine in three years, worthy of drinking alone. Good extract and nice balance of acid/fruit/alcohol (nice to see a good wine not buried under either wood or alcohol, unusual lately). Sour and sweet both, quite interesting wine - but more elegant than forceful overall." lfw
