iii) - vote on amendment to the constitution to include wines made from honey (mead)
the proposed amendment, if passed by a two-thirds majority, would change portions of the constitution as follows:
- Section 1, Purpose - from "The focus of COVA shall be on cold climate grapes and other fruit suitable for making wine, matched to the particular climate of Central Ontario." to "The focus of COVA shall be on cold climate grapes, fruit and honey suitable for making wine, matched to the particular climate of Central Ontario."
- Section 1, ii) Developing expertise - from "Accumulating information on vinifying cold climate fruit into suitable wines." to "Accumulating information on vinifying cold climate fruit and honey into suitable wines."
- Article 3, Section 1and Commercial Members and External Commercial Members- from "Any individual or organization {not} located in Central Ontario (as defined by COVA), {but} having {any} commercial interest in viniculture including wineries, nurseries and growing grapes or other fruit for sale may apply for {external} commercial membership." to

iv) - Membership cards will be available for those who have paid their 2003 membership at least 2 weeks in advance of the meeting.
v) - there will be a presentation of the results of a winter study conducted at Dr. Pell's farm by Trent student and COVA director Sarah Tedford. Sarah will report about the survival and winter hardiness of various vinifera and hybrid vines she is currently studying at Peregrine North Farm.
vi) - we will have a discussion of our fall trip, which will be a three day tour of Quebec vineyards and wineries
vii) - we hope that we can have at least a prospective COVA brochure available for those who want them, and for handing out at Fiesta Buckhorn wine show July 19th
viii) - Election of Officers from May 2003 until April 2004:
There will be an election held for the following offices:
President: currently Dr. Bryan Pell
Vice President: currently Carl Kimmett
Treasurer: currently Dr. Liang Liu
Secretary: currently Sarah Tedford
All four officers have given their assent to standing for re-election, but no further nominations have been made. This is a call for nominations. Upon confirmation that the person wishes to stand for election, further email will be sent to all paid members 14 days in advance. If there are no nominations before the meeting, there will be a call for further nominations from the floor, followed by an election wherever more than one candidate is listed. Note that only paid members can nominate or vote.
Directors of COVA will be appointed under the constitution by the Executive Officers. It is anticipated that any person who is willing to do some work for the association over the coming year could easily find a spot on the Board of Directors.
ix) after the AGM the room will be transformed into a setting for seminars. Note that there is limited seating for the seminars, details to follow shortly.
