"DATE: 04-11-09 tasted during 2009 Ontario Wine Awards Judging
Appearance: Dark ruby.
Nose: Cassis, raspberry, dark cherry, plum and spicy oak.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Palate follows the nose. Midpalate adds chocolate and dusty tannins to clean rich flavours. Good very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Cab is becoming drinkable as it approaches its fourth birthday, softening and getting some richness. This still has up to ten years in its future, with good general food-compatability at this point." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Consistently producing structured, cellar-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon from Niagara can be a difficult task, making the unique microclimate of the St. David’s Bench a very exciting place to be. This appellation is rapidly emerging as one of the best sites in Niagara for red wines, superimposing pure fruit flavours onto a sinewy, elegant structure.

The 2005 Reserve is a blend of wines from two premium vineyards from the St. David’s Bench, typifying the ripe, robust refinement that marks the appellation as one to watch."
