LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Heavy Bodied Red Wine

2005 Cabernet Franc
Tech Information: 12-04-07 $ 14.95 (S: 0 A: 12.9) Winery

"DATE: 01-01-08 Appearance: Purple.
Nose: Deep dark aromatics include red pepper, black cherry, pencil lead, spicy oak and an interesting earthy/herbal character.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, heavyweight. Huge and funky cab franc follows the nose, with the midpalate showing a great integration of oak/fruit/alcohol. Great rich mouthfeel lasts through the very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Huge bargain in great Cab Franc which should be ageworthy up to 10/12 years, maybe turning into too much wine for most modern drinkers in that time. Right now it is easily up to any new world competition anywhere near this price. Big wine for big foods." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"The aromas extending upwards are woody and earthy, exhibiting shitake mushroom and a souicance of tarragon. The taste is satisfying with jamminess in berries and plum, cassis and a tincture of violet. With its good tannins, it promises a good shelf-life and more structure with age."
