LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Heavy Bodied Red Wine

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
Tech Information: 12-04-07 $ 19.95 (S: 0 A: 13.9) Winery

"DATE: 01-01-08 Appearance: Deep ruby.
Nose: Cherry, raspberry, light cassis, blueberry, light herbal quality (dill?), nice smoky oak and touches of dark chocolate.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Big wine is not yet integrated. Palate follows the nose but the flavours are not yet melded, and the dusty tannins overpower the fruit at this point (which will change in two years). Richness and big mouthfeel forming, and a very long dry tannic finish with a bit of warmth.
Conclusions: Big excellent southwestern cab sauv with a great 12 year future is sitting in the spot between youth and maturity. In two years this will be a quite different wine, and in ten a remarkable one. If you must drink this now try it with the best hunk of rare beef you can find..." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Oaked for 10 months, the nose of this stellar Vintner’s choice boasts a hint of chocolate, anise and ripe black cherry. The cherry continues through to the palate, where strawberries and blackberries enter the scheme. Coffee and vanilla combine together for a warm finish with firm tannins in this complex wine that is full of personality."
