LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Heavy Bodied Red Wine

2005 Merlot
Tech Information: 12-04-07 $ 17.95 (S: 0 A: 13.3) Winery

"DATE: 01-01-08 Appearance: Garnet.
Nose: Deep black plum, smoky oak, cherry/raspberry, light leather and chocolate.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Palate follows the nose, but adds vanilla, pepper, something minty to the nose. Rich ripe tannins and some fat midpalate, with a long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Another biggie from the southwest, this can go eight to ten years, and will probably need another two to integrate into a lovely stand-alone wine. Best now with foods containing tomato, grease or cheese, will be a suitable companion to a black tie dinner in 2011 or 2012." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Our merlot affords a distinct nose of black currant. Oakey and earthy, the bouquet is enticing.
The flavours afford a full mouth feel, warm and buttery, exhibiting blackberry, fine tobacco and pepper. The well-resolved tannins are prominent, lend a medium earthy finish. This wine has interest and character! Aged for ten months in oak."
