""RETASTED: 10-29-08 Appearance: Deep straw.
Nose: The butter is maybe evolving to butterscotch or caramel, but otherwise consistent.
Palate: The comments below still apply. Man did I underestimate the staying power of this beauty.
Conclusions: comments still apply. A real treat to follow the evolution of this truly lovely chard. Still available at retail at this sadly out-of-the-way winery. When you turn right off the old highway just keep going and going. It is worth the trip just to talk to Peter and Livia." lfw

"RETASTED: 07-09-07 Appearance: Deep straw.
Nose: See below, little change.
Palate: See below, little change. Softer maybe.
Conclusions: Ageing nicely, still has years in front of it. Recently had a big 1992 Stoney Ridge Reserve Chard that tasted great (June 2007). This is heading the same way, should last for years. I grossly underestimated it last time for longevity." lfw

"DATE: 05-04-05 Appearance: Straw.
Nose: Integrated spicy oak, baked apple, some tropical fruit, a bready character as well as some butter.
Palate: Dry with moderate acidity, medium to heavyweight. Baked apple and tropical fruit on the palate, with smoky oak flavours, ripe tannins, rich midpalate. Good intensity, but all is so well-balanced it doesn't seem "big" the way that many do. Long clean finish.
Conclusions: Understated rather than over-the-top, this is a great choice of white wine to go with a formal dinner, and it should also age well for another 3 years or more. " lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"The 2001 Vintage is spectacular, Our winemaker (Peter) says it's one of the best Chardonnays that he has ever made. Our old vines, reduced crop, Chardonnay was barrel fermented and aged (twenty four months) in oak. Buttered toast and tropical fruit round out the strong acidic backbone. A long, lingering finish. Will cellar well."
