"DATE: 07-18-08 Appearance: Lemon with green tints.
Nose: Clean zesty nose with lemon/lime, grapefruit and mineral notes (but not yet fully developed).
Palate: Just off-dry with great acidity, light to midweight. Palate follows the nose, but as with the nose, is not yet developed. Spiciness on the midpalate and the very good long clean dry finish are just beginning to show what this wine will be.
Conclusions: This 10 to 12 year riesling is too young to appreciate yet. It is dumb, not yet ready. If you drink it now do so with the usual white wine suspects, but you will be missing a great show. If you like riesling petrol it should show in five years. If not, wait two. Superior riesling - it is great to see the off-dry rieslings in Ontario reducing their alcohol levels, making them wonderful on their own as well as good with food." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"This Riesling vineyard was established on the Featherstone property in the late 1970's. The grapes are Weiss clone, famous for the fresh citrus and clean mineral character they impart to the wine. An exceptionally well balanced and intense wine with delightful lingering flavours- lemon-lime, grapefruit, mineral and a touch of petrol. This vintage expresses the quintessential nature of Niagara Riesling, pure and simple."
