A tale of four 2004 Pinots: Clone 114     Clone 667     Clone 777     The Blend   the blend is composed of the other three wines.

"DATE: 08-25-07 Appearance: Ruby with a bit of brick at the edge.
Nose: Strawberry, raspberry, cherry, light oak, some earthiness. Softest, most complex nose of the four.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Palate follows the nose, soft and silky midpalate, ripe tannins showing on the long clean finish, best balance of acid/fruit/alcohol of the four.
Conclusions: All four wines are very high quality, and interesting in their own right. All are foodworthy, and all should reach eight years in a cellar in good condition.

The blend is easily the most complex of the four, and, I think, ultimately the best and most interesting. Will take another two years to shed some cold-year green-ness. Best now with red meats. Interesting as it is, I'd much rather have five bottles of this in my cellar and $10 in my wallet than one of the four-packs, though this would be interesting to repeat in five years or so ..." lfw
