"DATE: 08-12-08 Appearance: Deep purple/ruby.
Nose: Blackberry, black raspberry, light cassis, something earthy yet soft somehow.
Palate: Dry with very good acidity, midweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with light dusty tannins on the midpalate, and a good long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Almost a forgotten child in Canada, Chambourcin is considered a treat in Australia. Here we are looking down at hybrid varieties just when they are getting really good. This is a modern - but not tame - wine that should age into something unique and interesting within five years, and may last ten. Try the wineries food suggestions below, or use it with a burger from the bbq." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Our 2007 organic Chambourcin features a stunningly deep, purple-red colour with dark violet hues. An intense wine that combines generous, lush fruit flavours like juicy wild berry, black cherry and currant with light, natural tannins. Soft and easy to drink on the patio, this fruity wine pairs well with BBQ fare, pizzas, tomato based dishes and a variety of cheeses. The perfect wine to take on a picnic."
