Growwine Club
2005 Annual General Meeting
November 1, 2005
Held at Larry Paterson's, Peterborough

Present: Executive: Rick Wagner, President; Paul Ward, Treasurer; Larry Paterson, Club Representative.

Members & Guests: Barb Paterson, Barry Case, Bruce Flemons & Trudie Kroon, Bryan Pell, Carl Kimmett, Don Mann, Eila & Roger Martin, Lee Etherington, Don & Mary Duncan and Wally Henry.

Items of business:

a) Election of Officers - the current Board was unanimously approved for re-election. Jim MacKenzie (not present at the meeting) was elected as Special Projects Director.

b) No Constitutional items were discussed.

c) Club Competition 2006 - In conjunction with the Kawartha Krushers, and at the instigation of the Wine Judges of Canada and the Wine Stewards of Ontario, we will pick the first weekend in March to be the annual competition. The Growwine competition will be held on Sunday March 5th, 2006 at Larry's house.

f) Malolactic Testing - this is funded by the club, and requires only 1 or 2 mm of your wine to see if this is ongoing. Please contact Larry for assistance.

g) Listservers - Any member who wishes to be put on the AWO listserver, Winetalk, or the private listserver, Growwine, should contact Larry.

h) Manfred Hecke discussed the future of placing orders with him for Ontario juices. In short, get your orders in as early as you can. February 2006 may be too late.

i) The club membership subsidies were approved by the unanimous vote of members present. The AWO provincial organization charges each member $30.00 per annum, and the club voted to continue to use up the excess earnings (our share of running the 2004 Convention) by charging a reduced membership rate. All members will be charged $25.00 with the exception of a special "Student" rate of $20.00. This would allow a maximum of 10 students to join (a maximum cost to the club of $100). The hope is that area students (Trent, Sir Sandford, other) would in future be able to form a stand-alone club, with mentoring help from growwine members.

j) John Rufa of Kawartha Country Wines (Bancroft, Ontario) and Anthony Carone of Vignoble Carone (Lanorie, Quebec) are honourary members of Growwine. Anthony has just turned commercial, and is the first such graduate of our club.

l) Any member wishing their picture added to or deleted from the "Rogues Gallery" on the website should approach any member of the Executive to accomplish this.
