HEALTH FOR LIFE is a COMMUNITY PROJECT committed to
reducing the number of people who experience heart disease in our
community. To achieve the goal of a heart healthy community, we will
encourage and support people's efforts to:
EAT WELL
BE ACTIVE
STAY SMOKE FREE
Read a professional article about Healthy and Problem Drinking
WHAT DO WE DO?
Health for Life activities include educational programs, media campaigns, self-help initiatives, special events and policy development. Some examples of current activities include:
A Teen Quit Smoking Program
Development of a Trail Guide
School-based education programs and theatre productions
Gleaning Project (accessing fruits and vegetables from local farmers)
The Wellness Garden (a community nutrition display)
HOW IS IT FUNDED?
One third of the costs of Health for Life activities are paid for by the Ministry of Health and the other two thirds comes from community agents and sponsors. All of the Ministry funds go to project activities, not staffing.
