LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Medium Bodied Red Wine
2002 Chambourcin
Tech Information: 07-02-07 $ 9.95 (S: 0 A: 12.5) Winery

"DATE: 07-15-07 Appearance: Deep ruby / purple.
Nose: Blackberry, blueberry, plum and light oak touches.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Palate follows the nose and adds some peppery notes, dusty tannins and a pleasant touch of acidity midpalate. Good clean finish.
Conclusions: This is a good example of where VQA is making a mistake, as chambourcin is a hybrid that can make an excellent varietal wine, but is not allowed to be bottled by itself. After 20 years or so in existence, VQA is already showing signs of inflexibility which are causing problems for small wineries. This is a good wine with a five year future, which would work well anywere that a northern Italian red would work." lfw
