"DATE: 01-01-08 Appearance: Ruby.
Nose: Red and black peppers, smoky/sweet oak, pencil lead, light dark chocolate and a pleasant herbal note.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with a good mineral note and silkiness developing midpalate. Long dry finish is clean but has some attractive earthy notes developing.
Conclusions: Very useful youthful franc is best with flavourful foods at present (where the acidity can refresh the palate after every sip, allowing you to taste your food again). In another three years this will put on a very good performance, and in eight will be a wonderful sexy/silky drinker." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Savoury stuff. Ruby in colour and light bodied in weight and marked by mineral-charged fruit with olive and chalk notes, our 100% county cab franc displays hints of dried cherry, bell pepper, cedar and tobacco leaf. A high acidity profile and a low tannin level makes this Huff Estates selection an ideal food partner. A perfect match with picnic cold cuts, terrines, pates, rilettes, sausages, roast chicken, lamb kabobs, vegetable casseroles."
