Comments from lfw      DM 8521-1 is one of the numbered selections of Minnesota's Dave McGregor. This is considered super-hardy, and according to Northern Winework it has never injured in Minnesota. It has dense colour, some tannins, good fruit in the mouth and good aromatics. It is a shy yielder that may be best grafted onto a good rootstock (NWW recommends ES 15-53) to enhance vigour and productivity. It ripens midseason, and has small to medium clusters of small grapes. Should withstand -40 conditions.
