"DATE: 10-26-07 Appearance: Deep purple.
Nose: Deep cassis, raspberry, cran/blueberry, rich spicy oak, chocolate, leather, intrigueing.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, heavyweight. Monster cab is big but in good balance (except the tannins which still dominate the midpalate). This is starting to develop the beginnings of great old-red character, great fruit, nicely done oak, great extract. Very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Despite the age this wine is still youthful, underdeveloped. It would be a real treat with a top cut of beef (rare please!) but in five years it will start to mellow, becoming a great wine. You cannot help but compare it with the Meritage (tasted at the same time) but I believe I prefer the Meritage right now and would prefer the Cab Sauv in 5 years given a chance to taste them at that point. Capable of reaching 15-20 years of age in excellent shape, look out Pauillac!" lfw
