The Kawartha-Haliburton Children's Foundation Wine Appraisal Panel
She can be reached via her website by clicking on the picture to the left, which is also the best place to learn more about what she does.
Anyone wishing to donate a bottle (or more!) of wine to this auction should first contact Larry Paterson by Email or by telephone at (705) 743-4153 (leave a message). Larry will consult with the other panel members and quickly get back to you on an amount for the donation which is defensible on the open market for Tax Receipt purposes. The Kawartha-Haliburton Children's Foundation will then be able to issue a charitable tax receipt in this amount before the next tax year. And hopefully you will be able to come out to the auction and bid for a suitable wine to fill that new hole in your cellar!

Larry Paterson, aka The Little Fat Wino, is well known in the wine industry as a strong advocate of domestic wines. He has been involved in organizing the local wine shows in Lakefield, Peterborough and Buckhorn from 1992 to 2004, and in organizing tours, dinners and tastings. For a number of years he has been conducting a series of blind tastings with top-quality Niagara Cabernet Merlot blends matched to Classed Growth Bordeaux (they really do match: see Results of these tastings). Larry is also a Director of the Central Ontario Viniculture Association - helping to "Grow" a new industry of small farm wineries throughout Central Ontario.
The job of this panel is to gather information about the wines submitted for donation to the Auction, and to seek out and determine a fair value for each bottle donated. The panel will provide and seek expert advice wherever necessary in this determination. They will also write up a short summary for each bottle in the auction, a paragraph of information to help those wishing to bid on the bottles.
