LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Medium Bodied Red Wine
2003 Pinot Noir Reserve
Tech Information: 10-10-07 $ 24.95 (S: 0 A: 12.9) Winery

"DATE: 10-26-07 Appearance: Ruby with brick at the rim.
Nose: Strawberry and sweet cherry with spicy oak dominate a nose that has many subtler aromas, fruits, earthier notes, cigar box and light dark chocolate, complex and interesting, maturing.
Palate: Dry with very good acidity, midweight plus. Big palate is developing very nicely, with beet character, dusty tannins and some heat on the midpalate, Very long clean dusty dry finish.
Conclusions: Quite complex mature pinot for those who like real character rather than the soft and easy modern style of wine. This is just starting to enter the phase where it will turn silky and sexy, with the supporting cast firmly in place. Capable of another five years for those who have developed the taste for elegant old reds (no not you Mr. Yellow Tail drinker!)." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"A VQA wine. Harvested entirely from the Butlers Grant Vineyard on the Niagara Escarpment. A medium-bodied wine of classic garnet colour with an earthy, sweet, nose with hints of black cherries and black currents. Lots of fruit on the palate with flavours of strawberries, sweet, spicy cedar, and raspberries, with a hint of black currants. Well structured tannins are still apparent and will allow this wine to rest nicely on its side for another few years but drink it now for immediate enjoyment. Limited quantities."
