LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Dry Oaky White Wine
2004 Chardonnay Reserve
Tech Information: 06-02-07 $ 29.95 (S: 0 A: 13) Winery

"DATE: 06-07-07 Appearance: Deep straw.
Nose: Tropical fruit, peach, coconut, vanilla, spicy oak and a mineral quality.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Great balance of fruit/alcohol/oak. Rich and soft midpalate, good long clean finish.
Conclusions: Big chardonnay is also quite elegant, very oaky but not oak-dominated. This could age for another six years, becoming a quite funky Burgundian taste-alike in four." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"This Chardonnay was barrel fermented in 2nd year Berthomieux Cooperage French Barrels from the Naverre, Vosge, and Allier forests. It is deep golden in colour and the bouquet contains nuances of soft apple and pear, honeydew melon, citrus and coconut; all mingled with rich oak notes of vanilla, butterscotch and caramel. The palate is rich and very smooth, mild citrus fruit rounded out by flavours of pear and melon finishing with creamy oak flavours. Beautifully balanced, short to medium length. Can age up to four or five years."
