LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Medium Bodied Red Wine
2004 Gamay Noir
Tech Information: 06-02-07 $ 10.95 (S: 0 A: 13) Winery

"DATE: 06-07-07 Appearance: Ruby (deep for Gamay).
Nose: Cherry, strawberry, plum, sweet oak.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight (big for Gamay). Great mature fruit follows the nose, with rich tannins and softness arriving midpalate. Long clean finish is dried and extended by the tannins.
Conclusions: Maturing gamay is trying to turn itself into a Pinot Noir, and may succeed by 2009. Drink by 2011. Silkiness is starting to show and should come even further. Nicely done, very good value." lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Ruby garnet in colour, this 2004 Gamay Noir exhibits red fruit characteristics of cherries and currants with spicy coffee and nutmeg overtones on the palate. Spiciness predominating the nose and a smooth oak finish. Excellent fruit and acid balance are found in this wine. Aging will improve the fruit presence."
