"DATE: 09-09-08 Appearance: Light straw.
Nose: Rich buttery apple and tropical fruit with spicy oak and mineral in the background.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, heavyweight. Big palate has more flavour than the nose promises. Midpalate adds citrus notes, ripe and dusty tannins, with mild astringency and a bit of heat to counterbalance the richness. Finish is very long, clean and dry.
Conclusions: Rich and elegant, big but not overtly done chardonnay for fancy dinners at this point. Should go five to seven years, developing complexity and big flavours as it ages. Very nice wine, great example of what attention in the vineyard and at the winery can produce." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"Another typical Long Dog Chardonnay with a good balance of fruit, minerals and acidity. Citrus notes, hints of pear and melon and a touch of vanilla, it is definitely more Burgundian than New World in style. Goes beautifully with lobster and rich seafood dishes, but is still a quaffable wine on its own. Drink within the next 18 months."
