wine chemistry at work Tech Information: 09-06-08 $ 25.00 (S: 0 A: 13.5) Winery

"DATE: 09-09-08 Appearance: Light copper, almost a pale rose.
Nose: Melon, peach, grapefruit, mineral, light floral notes.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Big Gris nicely follows the nose, with some richness and a pleasant light tannic astringency on the midpalate, with a very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: The colour almost has to come from very ripe grapes and some skin contact, which explains the astringency. This allows this Pinot Gris to have much more oomph than most. Much more Alsatian than Italian in style, much friendlier to flavourful foods as well. Good for five years if cellared properly." lfw
