"DATE: 12-30-07 Appearance: Ruby with pink tints.
Nose: Cran/blueberry with floral notes (violet?) and a bit of a pleasant earthy aroma.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Add cherry and raspberry to the nose, with dusty tannins midpalate, and deft oak touches, with black pepper on the finish.
Conclusions: Very useful food wine that many will not like by itself in youth. I have aged Zweigelt for up to ten years and it has a habit of tasting like good chianti after about five. This wine should follow that pattern (by the way, good Chianti is not very pleasant in youth). Try it now with foods that have some spiciness to them, and in five years be astounded at how good they taste alone." lfw

FROM THE PRODUCERS:"This wine has a pronounced fruity bouquet and becomes rounder and finer with aging. The nose has expressions of black cherries with a surprise black pepper finish. High complexity, well balanced, ripe and soft tannins. This Zweigelt is great by itself or enjoy with beef and barbecues."
