"DATE: 08-22-07 Appearance: Deep ruby.
Nose: Blueberry, tart cherry, light smoky oak, light leather.
Palate: Dry with fresh acidity, midweight. Cranberry adds to the fruit cocktail which otherwise nicely follows the nose. Light tannins and a lean austerity midpalate lead to a good clean finish.
Conclusions: Still-youthful despite the vintage, this is a long-term old-style foch just starting to tame down. Give it another three years and it will mellow, becoming silky and complex. Would work nicely now with a burger off the barbie, loaded with condiments including lots of onion. Nothing soft or flabby about this one, which is certainly not aimed at the modern LCBO general-list easy-drinking crowd. I very much like wines with character, and don't mind waiting them out. Try this in 2010." lfw
