"DATE: 08-18-07 Appearance: Straw.
Nose: Rich mature seyval nose shows chardonnay-like character, apple/pear, smoky oak, butter/vanilla, and that positive vegetal character that I can never quite identify, but that comes with age.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight plus. Mature wine flavours with good mouthfeel, nicely balanced acid/alcohol/fruit, light tannins midpalate and a good clean finish.
Conclusions: Very easy to mistake this for a premium chardonnay, and it should be used accordingly. Mature flavours may not be to everyone's taste (in a market that seems to worship ever-younger wines) but this is what some people will pay a lot of money and wait quite some time to achieve. Drink by 2009. Excellent value if you like the style (I do!)." lfw
