LARDY'S WINETASTING NOTES Dry Oaky White Wine

2003 Chardonnay Reserve
Tech Information: 07-02-07 $ 26.15 (S: 0 A: 14.7) Winery

"DATE: 07-11-07 Appearance: Deep straw.
Nose: Big maturing chardonnay nose of baked apple, pineapple, butter, vanilla, sweet/spicy oak with light earthy elements developing.
Palate: Dry with moderate to good acidity, heavyweight. Big apple fruit stands up to the high alcohol, with enough extract to balance it all together. Very big mouthfeel, some silkiness developing midpalate. Fine dusty tannins on the very long clean dry finish.
Conclusions: Huge chardonnay for ten years from now is really good right now. All the elements for longevity and full rich development are here. A bargain for collectors of old chardonnay - all you have to add is a good cellar and time. Not for those who like mass market soft and smooth entries." lfw
