Who Fathered this Child?
Others are convinced that it is a spirit child which lurks in the winery, seducing people into consuming alcoholic beverages which can lead to serious consequences.
Certain, shall we say "Unique", characters were recently photographed with the child in question. Please scroll down and cast your vote for whomever you feel is the father...

An unusual child has shown up at Vignoble LeRoyer St.-Pierre in St-Cyprien-de-Napierville, Québec (south of Montreal). Some have claimed that this is simply a highly talented sculpture from a tree killed in the great Ice Storm of 1998 by artiste Julien Bouchard. They say it is called "La Sagesse du Vin"...
Alain Breault (19) Bryan Pell (6) Gilles Benoit (5) Robert LeRoyer (19)
Alain Breault masquerades as a radical pony-tailed hippy nurseryman/lumberjack who traffics in cold-hardy vines. Is he the father of the spirit? If so, will the carving sprout grapevines in future years? If so, will they indeed be Seyval Blanc and Marechal Foch???
Dr. Bryan Pell, President of The Central Ontario Viniculture Association is a well known wanderer. Having been exiled from Yorkshire to Australia (who then sent him to Canada) his wanderlust makes him a likely candidate for the paternity of this spirit. And anyone planting grapevines in Peterborough is, to say the least, a little off the beaten track!
Gilles Benoit, mild-mannered owner of Vignoble des Pins in Sabrevois, south of Montreal has quite a reputation for experimenting with new things. Has he been looking at trees in his recent past? We know that he experiments with blanketing grapevines overwinter, and grafting chokeberries to mountain ash trees, two good examples of unusual behaviour. Gilles town of Sabrevois was chosen as the name for the grapevine formerly known as ES 2-1-9. Is there any limit to this mans passion for new things?
Robert LeRoyer, gregarious co-owner of Vignoble LeRoyer St.-Pierre is the most obvious choice. He has been looking at the tree in question for a number of years. What has he been up to when Lucie was unable to keep a close eye on him? What can be expected from a man widely known as "Papa Grape" or "Grampa Grape"...???
