Scores from previous tastings

Tastings are held so that no individual can know which wine is which - except for the clues in the glass. Those who enter a blind tasting with an attitude leave with an ulcer. Blind tasting is an incredibly tough but very rewarding exercise. I have set up the following tastings over the last few years to see just how top Ontario reds compare to classed growth Bordeaux. I think this is the goal of red Cab/Merlot blends in our cool climate.

The tasters have ranged from quite expert to novice, and analysis of the scores yields similar results from pros and newbies both. Results since 1996 follow. This series of tastings will continue until all available classed-growth Bordeaux have been tasted from a paper bag. Those who don't believe that Canadian red wines can be good should consider that in the last 50 years, man has walked on the moon, Made in Japan is no longer a joke, the Berlin wall has fallen, Communism is virtually dead and a movie star has been President of the US. What's not to believe!?!
