"DATE: 05-06-08 Appearance: Inky purple.
Nose: Intense cassis, light spicy oak, some mineral/herbal/floral notes.
Palate: Off dry with good acidity, heavyweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with significant richness showing almost immediately. Quite creamy/silky on the midpalate, with light dusty tannins. Finish is very long, clean, and drier than expected.
Conclusions: Wonderful wine is somewhere between a not-too-sweet dessert style and a light dryish port. Not quite sure where to use it foodwise, but it certainly would fit nicely with strongly flavoured cheeses, meats, pates and fruit. Excellent product, very good bang for the buck, Scotch Block is almost single-handedly creating a wide range of wine styles from Black Currants in Canada. (Had to break my rule about spitting when doing this tasting note!)" lfw
