"DATE: 01-02-08 Appearance: Deep ruby / cranberry.
Nose: Currants, dark berries, woodsy/herbal notes, clean and inviting.
Palate: Dry with good acidity, midweight. Palate nicely follows the nose, with intense currant flavours, buttressed by grassy/herbal qualities as well (from the gooseberry no doubt). Very light tannins, with authentic currant bitterness on the finish (you like currants, you'll like it, if you don't, you won't). Finish is very long and clean.
Conclusions: Excellent example of a dry currant wine. I haven't aged anything quite like this, but suspect that this may mellow with age, and that it might just go a long way in the cellar (eight years??). This is not a bad substitute for light red wine, though it lacks the tannic structure to work well with rare meats, it would do well with many other dishes." lfw
