Lardy's Wine Tasting Notes
Sweet Fruit Wines
Grape dessert wines tend to have a little more complexity than fruit wines because grapes have more flavour compounds than other fruits. Fruit dessert wines tend to be at their best when they are a generous expression of their provenance.
Yet sweet fruit wines, while usually more simple, can be more easily blended one type with another, or respond better to winemaking techniques. They are also not bound by tradition and winemakers have come up with some superb enhancements.
As with grape dessert wines, I suggest serving these cold, then allowing them to slowly warm so you can experience a range of flavours. They tend to be superb value as they are not well known by the general public yet.
